Physical Therapy

  • Pain relief
  • Injury relief
  • Stress Reduction and Wellness

All sessions are one-on-one with Linda. She will create a healing partnership with you and help you to feel better.

Plan to spend 75-90 minutes with Linda on your initial evaluation session. She wants to hear your story. She will listen carefully to you. She will then do a Physical Therapy evaluation to determine the underlying causes of your problem. After explaining everything she has discovered about your problem, she will make treatment recommendations and likely begin treatment that same session, time permitting.

When you return, the 45-60 minute treatment sessions for pain, stress, and injury relief usually include hands-on therapy, most often Zero Balancing. Most clients also receive education in pain management, self-care and as well as a home exercise program.

The hands-on treatments are utilized to help reduce pain, decrease stress, increase flexibility, and increase relaxation and a sense of well-being.

To continue your pain relief, Linda will teach you how to identify how much you can do at home to gain some control over the pain.

Most problems are helped to some extent by an exercise program. Linda will work very carefully with you to develop a home exercise program that works with your schedule. Some of her clients have exercise programs that take only 5 minutes. She believes the only exercises that work are the ones that people will do!

Zero Balancing

Zero Balancing

Zero Balancing (ZB) is a hands-on bodywork system conceptually related to acupuncture. It is based on the Eastern concept of an energy system and its relationship to physical structure. It differs from acupuncture in that it uses touch, rather than needles, and works with the energy in bone, rather than the acupuncture meridians. In the Zero Balancing treatment paradigm, an imbalance between structure and energy contributes to a person’s experience of pain, stress, decreased function, and lack of wellness.

Holistic in approach, Zero Balancing does not focus on specific symptoms. However, symptoms resolve as the physical structure and energy system are brought into balance. Incorporating Zero Balancing into Physical Therapy sessions enables treatment to address both the structural and energetic causes of pain and dysfunction.

Gentle and deeply relaxing, Zero Balancing sessions are received while fully clothed, lying on one’s back on a comfortable treatment table.

Zero Balancing can be particularly effective for people who have not improved, or not improved enough, with traditional treatments. Examples of a few of the problems that respond well to Zero Balancing include:

  • Musculoskeletal pain (e.g. back, neck, shoulder, foot)
  • Stress-related diagnoses
  • Pain due to current or previous physical trauma (e.g. falls, car accidents)
  • Headaches
  • Fibromyalgia

In addition, Zero Balancing is a wonderful modality that can increase your sense of well-being and deepen your connection with who you truly are. It is deeply relaxing and provides an opportunity for self-reflection, a time to drop deeply into yourself.

Learn Zero Balancing

teaching photoZero Balancing (ZB) is an advanced studies program for the Health Care Professional. It is a hands-on body/mind therapy that is easy to incorporate into other body/mind and touch systems, including massage, acupuncture, nursing, chiropractic, physical therapy, psychotherapy and craniosacral therapy.

Each person who studies Zero Balancing will use it slightly differently depending on the scope of practice of his or her healthcare license. The study of Zero Balancing benefits practitioners through the enhancement of all skills involving touch: skills for assessment as well as treatment. In addition, practitioners gain an additional tool with which to help their clients. Those who study ZB can use what they learn to enhance their current modality or as a stand-alone protocol.

The complete Core Zero Balancing curriculum is a 50 hour program taught in two 4-day segments, separated by a period of practical experience. Core Zero Balancing I, which has immediate clinical application alone, teaches all pertinent theory and principles of Zero Balancing, how to use fulcrums effectively, and the basic Zero Balancing protocol. Core Zero Balancing II includes anatomy review with increased detail, refinement of palpation skills for identifying deeply held tensions, and teaches additional fulcrums for more thorough rebalancing of the client. After Core Zero Balancing II, participants will have learned the complete Core ZB Protocol, which is recommended to achieve the full benefits of Zero Balancing sessions. Instructors provide a detailed study guide, clear presentations using visual aids, and demonstrations of Zero Balancing. In lab sessions, students learn through both performing and experiencing Zero Balancing techniques.
